※About rarity
Summicron 35mm f/2 lens, made in Canada in 1959, with a serial number of 1.65 million. It's commonly referred to as the "goggle" 8-element lens, designed for the Leica M3 camera. It essentially converts the 50mm bright frame of the M3 into a 35mm frame. Leitz code is SAMWOM, later 11108. Compared to the goggle-less M2 model, this lens is slightly heavier, but it offers an advantage with a minimum focusing distance of 65cm. Even with the goggles attached, if the prism is clear, it doesn't compromise the clarity of the viewfinder. It's already a sophisticated 8-element lens, but with the goggles, it reaches its ultimate form. When mounted on the M3 with the ITDOO hood attached, it becomes sturdy yet stylish. Comes with genuine front cap. It has a very clean appearance with hardly any signs of use. The black wrinkle paint around the goggle is still deep black. A full service, including the goggle elements, was conducted in April 2024. The operational feel of each part is very smooth. There are minor cloudy coatings on the rear lens element, noticeable only when exposed to strong LED light, but they didn't affect the test shots. The coating remains intact overall. The glass around the goggle has also been thoroughly cleaned during this maintenance, providing a clear and satisfying user experience. The test results were very satisfactory.
