Leica M4 Motor. Serial Number: 1,260,000 range. The M4 that manufactured for accommodating the Leica Motor made by New York Leitz. Finished in black paint. This particular unit was renamed from M4-M and features the M4 MOT engraving.
The total production of both models combined is only 904 units. This unit is one of 400 shipped in November 1970.
The bottom of the camera body, exposed when the baseplate is removed, is equipped with dedicated motor drive contacts. The black paint on the frequently touched areas has developed a natural sheen, and the brass is subtly exposed at the edges of the body, adding to its character.
The vulcanite, all parts, and paint remain original. Extremely rare.
There are some scuff marks on the top cover, likely from the attachment and removal of a Leica Meter. Additionally, there is a small dent on the edge of the larger viewfinder window when viewed from the front, and a slight depression near the tripod mount on the baseplate. Other than these, the camera retains much of its original character. The vulcanite covering is also in excellent condition, just as it was when originally produced.
The camera underwent a complete overhaul in 2022, and all mechanical operations—including film winding and the shutter mechanism—remain smooth and responsive. The viewfinder is clear and bright.
Good working condition, ready for use.
