Pre-war Hektor 2.8cm f/6.3, HOOPYCHROM. Manufactured in 1938, with a chrome finish.
Distance scale in meters. Continental-style aperture control. Uncoated.
Among the many Leica lenses, the Hektor 28mm is one of the most compact.
Its ultra-slim design pairs beautifully not only with Barnack Leicas, but also with M-mount bodies via an L/M adapter.
It complements chrome-finished bodies as well as black paint models equally well.
The appropriate lens hood is the somewhat rare trumpet-style SOOHN, known for its elegant shape.
Comparing its rendering to that of its successor, the highly regarded Red Summaron, is a rewarding experience.
A somewhat uncommon and collectible lens.
The chrome-plated area around the lens mount base shows fine surface wear throughout, but there are no dings or dents.
A careful overhaul was performed a few years ago by the previous owner, and the aperture and helicoid still offer a smooth, well-damped feel.
Rangefinder coupling is accurate and precise.
There are a few extremely faint cleaning marks on the inner elements, but they have virtually no effect on image quality.
No haze or fungus is present, and test shots delivered excellent results.
A Hektor with good glass like this can truly perform beautifully.
Comes with original front and rear caps.
