Rolleiflex 3.5F, Type 1, with built-in exposure meter. Serial number in the 2.21 million range, manufactured around 1958–1960. The original finder screen features a full matte finish with a grid.
Similar to the 2.8F, the 3.5F is available with both Planar and Xenotar lenses, both of which are highly praised and difficult to choose between. This particular model is equipped with the Xenotar lens, known for higher contrast and slightly softer bokeh. The 75mm field of view is also perfectly balanced.
While the higher-end 2.8F is an excellent model, the 3.5F offers sufficient brightness for outdoor use with an easy-to-handle field of view, making it a strong contender for photography enthusiasts.
This early model of the 3.5F features the light-value coupling system for both aperture and shutter speed, allowing them to move together. However, by pressing the button on the side of the aperture dial while adjusting, you can independently control the aperture.
A carefully crafted example of the classic era, the 3.5F is the pinnacle of twin-lens reflex cameras, showcasing the high-quality craftsmanship that Rolleiflex is known for.
There are some paint scuffs around the corners of the focusing hood and near the tripod socket. Additionally, there is a minor crack on the cover of the needle-type exposure meter. Otherwise, there are no notable scratches, and the exterior is relatively clean.
The camera underwent a full overhaul (OH) in December 2024. The operation of the film advance crank, a key feature of Rolleiflex, is exceptionally smooth. The exposure meter is also fully functional for practical use.
The shooting lens shows no noticeable cleaning marks or haze, providing crisp and clear images. The glass condition is excellent, offering the original performance. There is no balsam separation, which is occasionally seen in 3.5F Xenotar lenses. This camera is in excellent condition for practical use.
The set includes the diffuser, original metal lens cap, strap, and case.
