The progenitor of Leica, the Leica Model A. The Leitz product code is the prestigious "LEICA". The lens is the old Elmar. Manufactured in 1928. Meter markings. Dimple release button. The winding knob is coarse and taller compared to the early models.
It has been 96 years since it was manufactured, a camera made in 1928, but it can still take photos if you load it with 35mm film. Amazing, isn't it? It has been used moderately, but there are no noticeable dents or dings, giving the impression that it has been well cared for. The wear on the paint adds to its charm. This is a camera that is great for shooting, researching, and admiring.
There is natural paint wear on the parts of the body where fingers touch, but no noticeable scratches or dings. Considering it is nearly 100 years old, it is in very good condition. The nickel plating is also in good condition.
Additionally, there are repair marks on the vulcanite on the front of the body, below the lens on the left, but the covering is the original from that time.
Fully serviced in June 2024. The winding operation is smoothly finished. There are small scratches on the viewfinder, but the visibility is clear.
The lens has a few light cleaning marks on the front element, but these should not affect the actual photography.
This Model A has been fully refreshed with the recent overhaul, ready for heavy use again.
Please note that for early models of the Leica Model A (mushroom and dimple release models), you need to keep the release button pressed while rewinding.
Comes with an original front cap that matches the body’s character nicely.
