※About rarity

Leica CL – The compact Leica, born from the collaboration between Leitz and Minolta.

Serial number: 1.32 million range, manufactured in 1973/74. Comes with the Summicron-C 40mm f/2 as the standard lens.

Unlike M-series Leicas, the CL features a 40mm viewfinder frame, a vertically traveling shutter, and other distinct mechanisms. The viewfinder also includes 50mm and 90mm frame lines, making this compact yet fully capable camera a true hidden gem. The more you use it, the more you’ll appreciate its charm.

The Summicron-C 40mm offers a perfectly balanced field of view, with a minimum focusing distance of 80cm, making it an excellent choice for snapshots and travel photography.

This unit has been fully overhauled, both body and lens, ensuring reliable operation.

For filters, the Series 5.5 filter is clamped within the rubber hood. While E39 filters can fit, the thread pitch differs, so they will only screw in partially.

There is slight black chrome wear on the edges of the baseplate protrusion and strap lugs, but considering that most Leica CL units have been heavily used, this set remains in remarkably clean condition.

Fully overhauled in February 2025, both body and lens have been meticulously serviced, and all functions operate smoothly. The light meter is also fully functional.

The Summicron-C lens has 2–3 very fine cleaning marks on the rear element, but these have no noticeable effect on image quality. The glass is clear and free from haze, allowing for crisp, unobstructed imaging.

Includes a rubber hood and hood cap. With its accurately working light meter, this is a great choice for anyone looking to start shooting with a film Leica.
