Leica If upgraded to IIIf. This particular model is a 1954 Leica If Red Dial, later upgraded by Leica to the IIIf model. Equipped with a self-timer, it represents the final iteration of the IIIf.
The IIIf is renowned for its high craftsmanship and, like earlier Leica models, served as a benchmark for various manufacturers copying its design. The coarse-grained Gutta-percha grip is also very comfortable.
The Leica IIIf was produced in large numbers and is well-regarded for its reliability, making it a solid choice even for those new to Leica cameras. Pairing it with a contemporary red Elmar lens creates a complete film Leica starter kit!
There are small scratches observed on the upper part of the right-side strap lug and the edges above the top cover. Additionally, there are very faint scratches on the top cover, but overall, it maintains a clean appearance with minimal signs of use.
Serviced in June 2024, winding is smooth, and the shutter feels satisfyingly responsive. The viewfinder is clear and sharp, with distinct contrast in the double image.
This Barnack Leica is user-friendly and in a condition where you can confidently take it out for use without hesitation.
