Summicron 35mm f2, 8-element version. Serial number in the 2,270,000 range. Made in Germany in 1968. The Leitz code is SAWOM, later 11308. The minimum focusing distance is 0.7m.
The chrome barrel is full of functional beauty, and its sophisticated styling remains timeless even today. This renowned Leica lens not only offers exceptional image quality but also exudes the artisanal charm characteristic of Leitz's golden age.
Its soft rendering wide open is impressive, but when slightly stopped down, it gains a strong three-dimensionality, and further stopping down results in sharp, crisp images. This lens provides a wide range of expressive possibilities and has maintained high acclaim across generations as an immortal masterpiece of Leitz.
The original matching hoods are ITDOO or IROOA, among others.
There are a few minor scratches on the tip of the filter rim, infinity lock lever, and barrel from use, but no major noticeable scratches. Overall, there is minimal wear, and the matte chrome finish is in beautiful condition.
It underwent a full overhaul in July 2024. Thanks to careful maintenance, the operation of all parts is smooth, and the infinity stopper clicks in perfectly. The rangefinder coupling is spot on. The interior of the barrel is carefully painted with anti-reflective matte lacquer, contributing to a more contrasty image.
The front element has a few very slight cleaning marks, but they should not affect image quality. The coating is fully intact, and the glass is very clean.
The test results were excellent. Please take a look at the test gallery. The photos were taken without a hood and at maximum aperture.
Includes original front and rear caps.
