Elmar 50mm f2.8, product code 11823. Reissued in 1994 for the M6J, rekindling the popularity of the beloved Elmar. In 1995, standalone production of the Elmar began, making this reissue a standard lens.
Serial number in the 3,720,000 range, manufactured in 2003. Chrome finish. It does not have 6-bit coding. While reminiscent of the classic Elmar 5cm f2.8 in design, it has been significantly upgraded, including a straight helicoid mechanism.
The removal of the infinity lock gives it a cleaner appearance. The minimum focusing distance is 0.7m. Retaining a retro collapsible design, it also pairs beautifully with digital cameras.
Comes with the dedicated 12549 hood, original front and rear caps, documents, and a soft case.
In like-new condition. This lens has been carefully preserved by a collector and shows no signs of use, with an exceptionally clean appearance.
Fully overhauled in November 2024. Both the helicoid and aperture ring have a smooth, pleasant feel. Although the Elmar-M has a tendency for a slight looseness in the aperture ring even when new, this unit operates with a satisfyingly smooth action. The focusing is precise, and the image quality is excellent.
The lens shows only very slight coating wear, with no cleaning marks or haze, resulting in crystal-clear glass. Test shots also showed superb performance.
