※About rarity

The Foca 2 Star (PF2) is a camera manufactured by the French company OPL (Optique et Précision de Levallois) known for its sleek and elegant design. Introduced in 1945, this model is a single-lens reflex camera with an interchangeable lens system and a built-in rangefinder. The rangefinder's objective lens is positioned on the left side, preventing it from being inadvertently covered by the right hand.
During World War II, OPL was occupied by the German army and supplied military equipment to the Germans. However, in secrecy, they continued to develop a small 35mm format camera (Petit Format = PF) and launched this model immediately after the end of the war in 1945. (This information is cited from Classic Camera Review, issue 63.)
The included lens is the standard Oplar 5cm f3.5, which features a collapsible base with a screw mount, allowing for the interchange of wide-angle, standard, and telephoto lenses. However, the camera’s built-in helicoid, which links to the rangefinder, only synchronizes with the 50mm lens. When using wide-angle or telephoto lenses, distance estimation is manual.

There are some dings near the counter and light abrasions and minor scratches on the top cover and baseplate, but the plating is in good condition overall.
In April 2024, both the body and the lens were serviced by a specialist, and all parts are functioning well. The front element of the Oplar lens shows several shallow cleaning marks and some wear on the coating, which is typical for the softer glass used in Foca lenses.
The angular body is stylish, and combined with its unique handling, this camera offers a distinct personality different from a Leica, making it a fun and interesting choice for photography enthusiasts.
