Leitz product code is FOOMI, later 14105. A compact ball head made by Leitz. Both the male and female threads are the larger type (a fine-thread adapter is included for the tripod side).

Following the first compact ball head FIAKU, the product code was changed to FOOMI in 1938, and multiple variations appeared. This particular item is believed to be a late model of FOOMI. The wing nut has changed from glossy chrome to matte chrome, which is relatively rare.

Leitz ball heads are known for their incredibly meticulous construction, evident upon touch. They can be firmly secured with light force, and won’t budge. As expected of Leitz, the precision machining is outstanding.

Even today, there are very few ball heads that can be secured as firmly in such a compact size. It remains one of the best practical ball heads even in the 21st century.

There are scratches on the bottom from attaching it to a tripod and slight dents on the body. Additionally, there are light scuffs from use overall, but the operation is solid, making it perfect for practical use without worry. It likely dates from the late 1950s to early 1960s, and comes with its original box from the good old days. The price includes tax and domestic shipping.
