Vertical rangefinder by Leitz, product cord is FODIS. This is an early type with a small distance dial, finished in black/nickel and marked in meters. It features a five-digit serial number, dating back to the 1920s.
With a baseline length of 83mm, it provides quite accurate measurements. The minimum measuring distance is 1m, same to internal rangefinders from the DII era onwards.
Standing tall on the body at a total length of 105mm, its design is distinct and rare in modern times. Paired with a Type A camera, it exudes a vintage aesthetic. Enjoy both the ambiance of a century ago and the pleasure of photography.
There are faint scratches throughout, with some areas showing hints of brass, but the black coating remains intact, making this FODIS rangefinder quite clean considering its age.
Overhauled in June 2024, it underwent servicing with the half-mirror replaced, resulting in a clear and vivid double image. Of course, the rangefinder function is also spot-on.
It's in a condition where you can use it confidently for practical purposes.
