Serial number in the 3.22 million range — this is a 1982-made Summilux-M 75mm f/1.4, the second-generation model featuring a built-in hood. Filter size is E60. Leica product code: 11815.
A compact, fast medium-telephoto lens that feels quite natural to use, even for those accustomed to 50mm lenses. With minimal distortion, it's an excellent choice for portrait photography. It delivers the soft, beautiful bokeh characteristic of the Summilux line, combined with impressive resolving power.
Minimum focusing distance is 0.8 meters. The telephoto focal length, paired with this close focusing ability, makes it especially useful for tighter compositions. On this particular lens, rangefinder coupling is accurate throughout the entire focus range—from just under 0.7m at the close-focus stop to infinity.
Includes original Leica front and rear caps, as well as a B+W UV filter.
This is a lens we’ve sold previously—it has been well cared for by our customer and has now made its way back to us once again. This marks its fourth time being offered for sale at our store.
There is minor black paint loss on the hood edge, aperture ring, and helicoid ring, but overall, the lens remains in excellent cosmetic condition with minimal signs of use.
It underwent a full overhaul, including precise focus adjustment, in 2022. Just like during the previous sale, both the aperture and helicoid rings operate with a beautifully smooth feel.
The Summilux 75mm 2nd generation is known for having many copies with back focus issues or inconsistent rangefinder coupling, especially in the mid-focus range. However, this particular lens has been meticulously calibrated—rangefinder coupling is spot-on across the entire range, from the close-focus stop to infinity, even at full aperture.
The lens does show very slight coating degradation on one of the inner elements, but it has virtually no effect on actual image quality. There are no cleaning marks or haze, and the glass is clear and bright.
Sample images from the previous sale are still available in our gallery. The lens delivers the refined rendering typical of a medium telephoto, along with the rich, expressive bokeh that only a Summilux can offer. We hope you'll take a look.
