The Summicron 50mm f2 push-on lens hood, made by the Japanese photo equipment manufacturer, Waltz. It is similar in design to the hood for the Summarit 50mm f1.5, resembling the XOONS design. With a 42mm push-on diameter, it fits most 50mm lenses with an E39 size.
Although the design is similar to the XOONS, it fits both the Summicron and Summitar lenses, which makes it a bit confusing, but it complements both lenses very well. Naturally, it is not compatible with the Summarit (laughs).
When compared to the original Leica XOONS hood, the quality of the finish, such as the crystal coating, is on par with it. While the XOONS is made of brass, this one is lightweight aluminum. The weight is measured at 36g, about half the weight of the XOONS.
The lens hood has slight scuffs on the black paint at its tip, but beyond that, it shows minimal signs of use and remains in excellent condition overall. It has been confirmed to be compatible with E39 lenses. Additionally, the original box labeled for the Summicron is included.
