The Rollei Mutar 1.5x is a teleconverter attachment for Rollei Flex RIII bayonet mount, designed to turn standard lenses into telephoto lenses. It is compatible with the Rollei Flex 2.8 series.
When attached, it converts focal lengths like 75mm to 110mm and 80mm to 116mm (with the minimum focusing distances becoming 1.65m and 1.86m, respectively). While it doesn’t quite reach the 135mm telephoto range of the Tele-Rollei, it offers a great way to add telephoto capabilities to your Rollei Flex.
To achieve optimal performance, the exposure needs to be corrected by +1/2 stop, and the aperture should be set to f/5.6 or higher.
According to Claus Prochnow's book, Rollei Report 2 (in German), this Mutar was supplied between 1963 and 1967. In 1963, it was priced at 640 German Marks, while a 3.5F model cost 775 German Marks. This high price meant that it wasn’t very popular, and only about 1000 units were produced.
The bayonet mount shows almost no signs of wear, and the overall appearance of the Rollei Mutar 1.5x is in great condition. It has been tested and confirmed to fit on the Rollei Flex 2.8F in our store.
In 2025, the lens glass was cleaned. The view lens has some coating wear resulting in minor haze, while the taking lens shows no noticeable cleaning marks or haze.
Please note that the dedicated hood is not included with this item, but a leather case is provided.
