Leitz New York versions of the SOOHN hood can sometimes be found in lightweight aluminum, but this particular example is brass with black paint. Unlike the German-made versions, there is no "28mm" engraving on the base. The simple flared design pairs perfectly with the flat profile of the Hektor lens, exuding a charming, understated elegance. A rare item.
The paintwork is a touch less refined compared to the German-made equivalent, but that adds to its vintage charm. The black paint is well-preserved, with no significant chipping or wear—a remarkably clean example of the NY-made SOOHN hood.
