※About rarity

Left-Handed Shutter Release for Barnack Leica.
A custom-made shutter release attachment produced in the 1930s for left-handed users. This accessory was not featured in product catalogs and appears to lack an official code number.

Cameras compatible with both right- and left-handed shutter releases are rare, with the Exakta Real being one of the few examples. Similarly, cameras with left-handed shutter releases are also limited, including models like the Kodak Ektra and some Exakta cameras. True to the spirit of creating niche accessories, Leitz showed remarkable consideration by producing a small number of these shutter releases specifically for left-handed users.

The design is simple, utilizing the principle of leverage, enabling smooth and natural operation with the left hand.
This particular item is for Barnack Leica cameras and can be mounted on models ranging from the Leica DII to the IIIf.
Please note that it is incompatible with the Leica Ic, If, Ig due to differing accessory shoe positions, and the IIIg where the distance between the shoe and the shutter release is longer.

Other versions for Standard models, M-series, and the Leica CL are known to exist, but all are exceptionally rare.

Shows minimal signs of use and is in excellent cosmetic condition.
We have tested its functionality on a Leica IIIf in our shop, and it works perfectly, allowing for smooth shutter release operation with the left hand.
