Leica IIIg Close-Up Attachment, ADVOO. Later product code 16503. Introduced in 1959.
The Leica IIIg, the final model of the Barnack Leica series, featured a taller body compared to earlier models like the IIIf, which made it incompatible with accessories like the SOOKY and NOOKY. This ADVOO attachment was specifically made for the IIIg, embodying the luxurious craftsmanship that Leica is known for. Produced during Leica’s post-war golden era, the build quality and finish are truly impressive.
The ADVOO can be mounted on L-mount lenses such as the collapsible Summicron 50mm f2 and the Elmar 50mm f2.8 (E39). When attached, it allows close-up photography from 50 to 90cm, with rangefinder coupling and parallax correction. The magnification ratio ranges from 1:15 to 1:8. Additionally, by using the SOOGZ adapter, lenses like the Elmar 50mm f3.5 with an A36 filter thread can also be used.
Please note that some fixed barrel lenses may interfere with the ADVOO and cannot be mounted.
There are very faint signs of attachment marks on the bottom of the accessory shoe, but otherwise, both the viewfinder attachment and close-up lens show no signs of use and are in excellent condition. The glass is free from cleaning marks and is very clean. The original box is also in great condition.
True to Leica’s golden era craftsmanship, the build quality is outstanding. It would make a great addition to any collection!
