The original Leica L-mount Nokton, despite its short production period, comes in a variety of versions. This particular lens is an early model featuring the characteristic light blue coating and the three black rings on the barrel. Its bold and rhythmic design makes it one of the most stylish Leica lenses, easily competing for the top spot.
The design suits both Barnack and M-mount Leicas perfectly. While many Leica Nokton lenses tend to have some looseness, this one offers excellent handling and image quality.
The actual weight is 272g. Comes with both original front and rear caps, as well as a 47mm slip-on UV filter.
A rare find!
While there are some minor signs of use, such as light scuffs, there are no dings or dents, and the lens maintains a clean appearance.
It underwent a full overhaul, including focus and rangefinder coupling adjustments in 2023. The smooth operation is still present, and the rangefinder coupling is perfectly aligned, thanks to the meticulous servicing.
There are a few small needl point of makrs on the front element, and 2-3 very faint cleaning marks, but they should not affect image quality. The glass is otherwise clear, free of haze, and remarkably clean for a Leica Nokton. It also shows no signs of the common balsam separation issue that often affects original Nokton lenses.
