Leica M5 Black Chrome 50th Anniversary Edition. This unit has a serial number in the 1,360,000 range, with a matching number on the original box—perfect for collectors.
Released in 1975 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Leica Model A (introduced in 1925), this special edition has a Leitz product code of 10502. This example is a later model with three strap lugs. Alongside the M5, Leica also released 50th Anniversary editions of the M4, CL, and SL2. By the way, 2025 marks Leica’s 100th anniversary—an even bigger milestone to celebrate!
The front of the body features the LEICA logo alongside the “50 JAHRE” emblem, and the underside of the top cover is engraved with the unique limited-edition number, 099-L.
For those accustomed to the compact design of the M3 and later M models, the M5 may feel larger—but it’s a camera that grows on you. Beloved by seasoned photographers, the M5 features a built-in light meter and a conveniently placed shutter speed dial, allowing seamless adjustments without taking your eye off the viewfinder. Its exceptional ergonomics and handling are standout qualities.
The exterior shows almost no signs of use and remains in near-mint condition. The LEICA M5 plate on the front displays slight fading of the black chrome, likely from age rather than use. Otherwise, the camera looks as pristine as it did when released.
Fully overhauled in December 2024, all operations are smooth, and the light meter is functioning perfectly. The common M5 issue of balsam separation in the finder is absent, and the viewfinder is clear and bright.
Included accessories: original body cap, English instruction manual, import certificate, and the matching original box. A fantastic addition to any collection!
