※About rarity

Carl Zeiss Planar 55mm f1.4, made in Germany. This lens was sold for Contarex 35mm SLR cameras from 1959 to 1972. It features a chrome barrel and distance markings in meters.

The Contarex was a precision, high-end camera developed as the culmination of Zeiss Ikon's technology. This standard Planar lens, fitting for a flagship camera, is renowned for its impressive appearance and excellent image quality.

Up close, it delivers a smooth, creamy bokeh, while at longer distances, it produces a distinct, vintage-like swirling bokeh characteristic of old lenses. The focus plane is precise, making it a truly outstanding lens. It is highly appreciated by photographers, including those who enjoy using it with modern digital mirrorless cameras.

There are minor scratches and abrasions from use, but no dents or significant marks.

All functions work properly. There is some coating wear around the front element's periphery, but the center is clear and sharp, unlikely to affect real-world performance. There are no noticeable wiping marks or haze elsewhere.

It includes the original front cap, original SL filter, and a replica Contarex rear cap. The filter has a few light wiping marks. It's a practical Planar lens suitable for use.
