Summilux 50mm f1.4, product code SOOME/11114. Manufactured in 1966 with a serial number in the 2,190,000 range. This is the early version of the second iteration, featuring a silver chrome barrel that later transitioned to black. It inherits much of the design from the first generation Summilux, often referred to as the "lady" model. It has a 5-group, 7-element construction. While its appearance is similar to the first generation Summilux, the lens design was revised with the adoption of air-spaced elements, providing good sharpness particularly at wide apertures.
While the first version's unique softness remains charming, the second version of the Summilux offers a subtle balance that enhances its core sharpness when wide open. It is highly popular among fans for its versatility.
The filter diameter is E43. Compatible hoods include XOOIM, 12521G, and 12586.
There are slight, faint scratches near the GERMANY engraving at the base of the lens hood mounting area, but overall, the appearance is very clean. Fully overhauled in 2024, the aperture and helicoid operation feels excellent, consistent with its previous sale. The rangefinder coupling is also spot-on.
The lens shows no noticeable scratches or haze, and the glass is exceptionally clear and clean.
Finding a well-preserved second version Summilux with a beautiful silver chrome barrel like this has become quite rare in recent years. It's perfect for those seeking a pristine example of the Summilux with a silver chrome barrel.
Comes with genuine front and rear caps, and an E43 UVa filter.
