Leitz product code VALOO, later designated as 16620, refers to the lens hood introduced in 1949 for enlarging purposes. Originally designed to improve aperture control when used with lenses like the Elmar 50mm on enlargers such as the Valoy or Focomat, it has since found utility as a shooting hood. Weighing approximately 60g, it boasts a rugged appearance. Its aperture ring features a satisfying click-stop mechanism, embodying Leitz's meticulous craftsmanship.
At its front, it accommodates A36 filters and allows for the attachment of genuine caps. Slightly longer than the FISON model, it offers enhanced light-blocking capabilities typical of a hood.

There is a vertical scratch near the lower edge of the Leitz hexagon logo, and a few very slight scratches elsewhere, but overall it shows minimal signs of use and is in excellent condition. The aperture click-feel is also satisfying.
Originally intended for use in the darkroom, this hood can certainly be used during photography sessions as well. We also have our own original FB-07 hood for Elmar with aperture control (currently out of stock), but for those who prefer to have a complete set of Leica originals, this is highly recommended.
