The code was previously OLLUX. Introduced at the 1960 Photokina as the world's brightest wide-angle lens, the Spherical Summilux 35mm f1.4, also known as the Steel Rim, remained a long-lasting model until the advent of the ASPH. Despite changes in features like the filter frame and aperture stopper, it retained its significance until the introduction of the ASPH version.
This is the dedicated hood for the earliest model, commonly referred to as the Steel Rim, distinguished by its unique design and functionality. Originally branded as OLLUX, this particular version is labeled 12522H, denoting the third iteration.
With its beautifully crafted shape, this hood not only serves its intended purpose but also accentuates the refined design of the early Summilux 35mm lens. The unique method of snapping it into place is characteristic of Leitz's distinctive approach to product design.
The hood shows signs of black paint chipping on the front end and various parts, but it's in a condition that's perfectly suitable for practical use. There are no dents or dings. Compatibility with the lens has been confirmed upon installation. Despite its slightly worn appearance, it fits snugly onto the Steel Rim without any looseness (a great match for the lens).
This hood is not easy to come by, so for those planning to purchase a Summilux 35mm Steel Rim in the future, it's recommended to secure one in advance.
