Second generation Summicron 35mm f2, a 6-element design. The Leica product code is 11309. Manufactured in 1972 with serial number 2,540,000. It is the without-knob type and was made in Canada. The filter thread size is E39.
Following the first generation 8-element version, finding a well-maintained specimen of this model has become quite challenging.
Often overshadowed by its 8-element predecessor, the 6-element Summicron boasts a rotation angle of the focus ring and a focus knob that fits comfortably to the fingertips. It possesses both the capability and charm. Its color rendition is slightly muted, and its rendering isn't overly harsh, making it a well-balanced lens.
Weighing in at a measured 180g and featuring a compact size, it pairs excellently with Leica M cameras.
There are only very minor paint chips, and overall, the lens barrel is a deep black, presenting a well-maintained 6-element design.
Fully serviced in April 2024, the aperture and focusing rings operate smoothly. The rangefinder coupling is also spot on. Real-world test results were also satisfactory.
There are minor coating imperfections on the middle element when viewed under strong LED light, but these do not affect image quality.
Additionally, there are no noticeable cleaning marks, and the original coatings remain intact on all surfaces. Real-world test results were also positive.
Comes with a matching serial number original box, 12504 hood, and genuine front and rear caps. Perfect for collectors!
