Summilux 50mm f1.4 with a white barrel. The product code is SOOME, later changed to 11114. The serial number is in the 1,940,000 range, manufactured in 1962.
Although its exterior retains the look of the first-generation Summilux, this model features the evolved second-generation optical design. While the lens configuration remains the same at 5 groups and 7 elements, the design changes have resulted in a sharper image near maximum aperture.
The soft rendering unique to the first generation is wonderful, but the second generation's increased realism in image rendering is also truly impressive. This lens can be used for a wide variety of purposes.
There are some scuffs and minor scratches on the barrel from use, but no dents or deep scratches. It is in a condition suitable for worry-free use. The included original hood is in a similarly matched condition.
It underwent a complete overhaul in June 2024. Thanks to meticulous maintenance, the aperture and helicoid now operate very smoothly. When tested with our store's demo digital Leica M, there is a slight front focus tendency at distances of 1m to 2m, but stopping down by half to one stop brings it within the depth of field, making it acceptable.
There is a slight separation at the edge of the middle element, which is common in Summilux lenses, but it should not affect the actual images. Additionally, there are no noticeable cleaning marks or haze, and the glass is clean.
The lens comes with the 12521G hood and the original hood cap.
