The Elmar 65mm is well-regarded for its image quality in both early and late models, but this late model is sharper and has higher contrast. It offers excellent resolution and color rendering. This Visoflex Elmar 65mm lens was originally designed to be mounted on a Visoflex via the 16464 helicoid and used with Leica M bodies. However, today, if you mount it on a digital mirrorless camera using an adapter, it becomes a highly versatile and agile old lens!
The late model Elmar 65mm with a black barrel is somewhat rare.
There are hardly any signs of use, and the exterior is in excellent condition.
Both the lens and the helicoid were fully serviced in May 2024, and the operational feel is impeccable. The aperture ring, which tends to rattle, now has a well-defined torque, and the helicoid extends smoothly and effortlessly.
When viewed under a strong LED light, 2-3 very slight cleaning marks can be seen on the front element, but they do not affect the image quality. Overall, the glass is clean and clear.
The results from the actual test shooting were also excellent. Please take a look at the test images.
