※About rarity

The final model of the Barnack Leica, the Leica IIIg. Produced by Ernst Leitz with product code GOOEF. Manufactured in 1958. It was produced around the same time as the Leica MP and M2, marking the peak of Ernst Leitz's post-war period. Designed and manufactured without regard to cost, its exceptional quality is evident just from looking at it.

Incorporating technology from the Leica M3, it features parallax correction and bright frames for 50mm and 90mm lenses. The viewfinder's clarity is superb, making it a standout among Barnack Leicas in terms of craftsmanship.

This specific unit has been in the possession of a collector for many years and retains the atmosphere of a new piece from its heyday. It would be a great addition to any collection.

There is hardly any noticeable sign of use. There are just a couple of linear scratches on the self-timer lever base and faint scuff marks on the bottom plate visible under certain angles of light, but a IIIg in such pristine condition is rare indeed.

Serviced in June 2024, the winding mechanism, shutter, and self-timer operate smoothly. The slow shutter speed dial feels slightly stiff, but this should ease with continued use. The viewfinder remains clear, and the vulcanite covering is entirely original with prominent grain texture. It's a condition that's quite difficult to come by.
