Leica M3 Black Paint. Serial number 1097xxx. This is one of the 150 units from a batch with serial numbers ranging from 1097701 to 1097850, shipped on April 8, 1964. This body has clearly seen significant use over the years. The strap lugs have been replaced with chrome ones by Leitz at a later date, and that area has been touched up in black. However, the other parts remain in their original condition. The vulcanite covering is also entirely original. Additionally, there is oxidation on the exposed brass of the top cover on the left side facing forward from the winding lever. The body shows moderate signs of use, with brassing on the edges and some abrasions throughout. Overall, it's a charming M3BP suitable for practical use. There are very minor dents, visible only at certain angles of light, near the Leica logo on the top cover, about two places. Otherwise, there are no noticeable scratches or marks. Serviced in 2024, including shutter curtain replacement. From the winding lever to various dials and levers, the operation feels very smooth. The viewfinder is clear and crisp, with good contrast in double-image alignment.
