※About rarity
Summilux 50mm f1.4 Second Generation Black Chrome. Leitz product code 11114. Manufactured in 1973 with serial number 2.56 million. Evolved from the original chrome barrel, the Summilux 2nd generation underwent design changes and has been in production since 1961. The 2nd Black Chrome version, introduced in 1966, features a revamped design with changes to the ribbing, resulting in a slightly lighter weight. This particular lens weighs 283g. The optical configuration remains unchanged at 5 groups with 7 elements. Known for its improved sharpness wide open, this second-generation lens retains the Summilux characteristics while offering more stable rendering. Bokeh varies with shooting distance, ensuring versatile and captivating results. Whether on a Leica M or a digital mirrorless camera, it provides a delightful viewfinder experience. A versatile masterpiece suitable for any occasion. There is very minor paint loss at the lens tip due to the attachment and removal of the hood, but otherwise, the lens exterior is in excellent condition with no signs of wear, scratches, or dents. Fully serviced in March 2024, the aperture ring has a satisfying click feel, and the helicoid moves smoothly without any stress. The rangefinder coupling is precise, and focusing is accurate. The glass has slight wiping marks on the middle element and coating degradation on the peripheral areas, but neither should affect the image quality. Test shooting results were positive. Although from a later era, it comes with a convenient set including the E43 UVa filter 13206, hood 12586, and hood cap, allowing you to start shooting right away.
