Rolleiflex 2.8F. The king of twin-lens reflex cameras that every camera enthusiast dreams of. Made in Germany. This particular unit has a serial number in the 2.4 million range, indicating it was likely manufactured around the time of the 2.8F's launch in 1960.
You can enjoy the beautiful rendering of the legendary Planar 80mm 6-element lens on medium format film. It features a convenient built-in coupled exposure meter. The finder hood is detachable, and the screen can be replaced according to your preference. The included finder screen appears to be a bright and very easy-to-see third-party product made in the USA.
There are minor scratches, scuffs, and some paint loss on the edges and operational areas due to use, but overall, it has a relatively good appearance for a Rolleiflex and is in just the right condition for carefree use. It has been serviced (OH済) in October 2024. The operation of the shutter and focusing knob is smooth, and the feel of the winding crank, which is key to Rolleiflex operation, is pleasantly light and well-finished. The exposure meter functions properly. The finder screen, which has a matte finish with a split-image in the center, is clear, making it easy to gauge focus.
There are slight cleaning marks on the front lens element, and minor coating wear typical of the 6-element Planar lens can be seen on each surface, but it is in good condition for a 6-element lens that is prone to deterioration.
Included are a lens cap, a leather case with a RIII hood, a strap made by Octavus (which appears to be a modified one-off item), and a charming olive-green leather case marked with "HACHIGAHANA PHOTOGRAPH CLUB." This high-quality leather case gently wraps around the Rolleiflex, providing a luxurious feel that satisfies your desire for ownership.
With just some film prepared, you can take this set out for shooting right away!
