Elmar 65mm for Visoflex and Helicoid OTZFO (16464K) set. Serial number in the 1.84 million range. Manufactured in Canada in 1961. This is the early chrome version, and the compatible filter size is E41.
With the Visoflex II or III, it can be mounted on M-mount Leicas, allowing for shooting from approximately 15 cm up to infinity. It excels in close-up performance and is highly regarded among our staff and customers. The lens's recessed design means that a hood is not necessary, which is an added benefit.
In recent years, it has become possible to use it with various mount adapters for live view and digital SLRs, significantly enhancing its usability. Its versatility has greatly expanded. It offers very high resolution and excellent color rendition, making it a great all-around lens. Highly recommended for those using mirrorless cameras as well.
Overall, there are some light scratches and signs of use, but there are no notable dents or significant damage, and the lens barrel is in good condition.
It underwent a full overhaul in July 2024. Due to the meticulous servicing, the operation of the aperture ring and helicoid is very smooth. It differs from the common Elmar 65mm lenses with rattling apertures and greasy, loose helicoids, offering a distinctly smooth experience. You will find it very pleasant to use.
The glass has a few very faint cleaning marks on the middle element, but these should not affect image quality. The glass is clear and crisp with excellent clarity.
The results from practical testing were also very good.
