※About rarity

Introducing the Canon 35mm f1.5, a large-aperture wide-angle lens for the Leica screw mount, first released in 1958. It features a 4-group, 8-element design and has the welcomed metric scale. It is said to be the world’s first 35mm f1.5 lens designed for photography.
Unlike the Summilux 35mm f1.4, this lens boasts sharp, well-defined focus rendering right from its maximum aperture. Options for bright 35mm old lenses with rangefinder coupling that can be used on a Leica are surprisingly limited, making this a lens of interest for many.
The Canon 35mm f1.5 sometimes exhibits poor accuracy of rangefinder coupling, but this particular item provides stable focusing and consistent image quality.

There are some very minor chips in the black paint on the tip of the lens barrel and the helicoid ring, but overall, the appearance is quite clean.
The lens underwent a full service in April 2024. The aperture and helicoid movements have been smoothed out nicely, and the rangefinder coupling is spot-on.
There are some spots on the middle element that might look like traces of fungus at first glance, but they are actually minor balsam separations that do not affect the photographic results. Additionally, there are no significant scratches or haze on the glass. The test shooting results were very good.
The central focus of the lens offers a sharp rendition, while the soft rendering of the periphery and fore-and-aft adds a truly nice atmosphere.
