※About rarity
Manufactured in 1959, Leica M3 Black Paint from the first batch, with the serial number 959xxx. According to official records from Leitz, the first batch consisted of 100 units starting from serial number 959401, based on the early model M3. While there are many differences in parts compared to later batches, the black-painted brass components exude a remarkable presence, evoking sighs of admiration whenever one gazes upon it. Furthermore, this particular unit, like the M3 Black with serial number 91xxxx, previously featured in our rare item gallery, was a special order produced before the official batch, and it boasts a black counter, adding to its appeal. The shutter mechanism operates on a spring-driven single-stroke system. Preserving such a specimen, which could be considered a cultural asset, for future generations is undoubtedly a mission entrusted to its fortunate owner. Before sale, we ensured it underwent careful and thorough maintenance to preserve its original condition for years to come. We're grateful to have had the opportunity to handle this item at the request of our customer.
