Agfa Color Shooting Filter. Leitz product code: FARBU. A composite filter featuring the three primary colors arranged in horizontal stripes.
Designed for use with the all-black Hektor 73mm f1.9, this filter has been adapted with a straight helical mount, replacing the traditional rotating design, and includes a protruding screw for filter attachment.
The Agfa Color film utilizes a series of dome-shaped cylindrical lenses aligned on one side of the film (just 0.027mm wide!). This film is designed for a focal length of 50mm, necessitating adjustments when used with the 73mm lens. As such, a grid is incorporated into the front of the FARBU filter.
Introduced in 1933, Agfa Color enabled color slide projection using black-and-white film, making natural color a reality. However, by 1936, advancements such as Agfa Color No. 2 and Kodachrome film rendered these special devices obsolete, leading to a brief period of relevance. It is said that this filter was only listed in the 1935 Leitz catalog, indicating its short lifespan.
In modern times, it holds no practical use but is recognized as a collector’s item among Leica enthusiasts. This rare accessory beautifully complements the projection FARPU filter, adding charm to any collection display.
Agfa Color Shooting Filter. This item exudes the charm of a brand-new piece from its era. It shows no signs of use and is in excellent condition. The glass is free from scratches and haze, and the three primary color filters retain their vivid colors. The original box is included.
A perfect addition to your collection!
