※About rarity

*Shipping to Japan Only.
Lens hood for the Elmar 50mm f3.5, made by Wallace Heaton in London, UK. The hood allows aperture control while attached to the lens. It fits perfectly with pre-war Elmar lenses.

The aperture values are marked in continental style (3.5, 4.5, 6.3, 9, 12.5, 18). The hood is made of aluminum and weighs approximately 19g, making it lightweight.

To attach the hood, loosen the screw at the base, place it over the front of the lens, align the aperture value with the index, and then tighten the screw to secure it.

Wallace Heaton Ltd was founded in 1917. Originally a pharmacy, the company later transitioned into a camera shop. Located in London’s prestigious New Bond Street, it operated independently until its acquisition in 1972, earning a reputation as a royal warrant holder. They also sold products under their own brand name, such as this lens hood.

During previous trips to the UK, I’ve come across cameras and lenses with Wallace Heaton-issued receipts and warranty documents, evoking a sense of nostalgia for this prestigious shop while also marveling at the British tendency to carefully preserve their possessions.

There are some scuffs and minor aluminum corrosion from use, but the hood retains a nice overall appearance. No dents or distortions are present. All parts function normally. It has been tested and confirmed to fit pre-war Elmar 5cm lenses.
