※About rarity

Summicron 35mm f2, 8-element, black paint. Manufactured in 1965 with a serial number in the 2.13 million range. The distance scale is marked in red, known as the Red Scale. Made in Germany. The minimum focusing distance is 0.7m. The Leitz product code is SAWOM.

The coating is purple/amber. The mount is chrome-plated, and the infinity stop is brass with black paint. The weight is 181g.

This lens shows a nice amount of use, giving it a tough, appealing character. It pairs perfectly with Leica M3, M2, and M4 black paint models.

The filter thread, aperture ring, and focusing knob show natural wear on the black paint where fingers commonly make contact, but overall, the lens remains in a clean condition for an 8-element black paint version. There are no dents or major scratches.

The lens exhibits minor cleaning marks on the front and rear elements, and there is some coating damage on the rear element. These imperfections do not seem to affect the image quality.

The lens underwent a full overhaul in 2024. Thanks to careful maintenance, the aperture and focus rings still offer a smooth and precise operating feel. The infinity stop also functions naturally, providing a gentle stop. The rangefinder coupling is perfect. The coating remains intact across the lens. Test shots have produced excellent results.

Included are the original aluminum front cap, a thin original rear cap, and a black-frame UVa filter, which is from a slightly later period.
