※About rarity

Hektor 50mm f2.5, Nickel-plated finish. Serial number in the 120,000 range. Manufactured in 1931. Leitz product code is HEKTOR.

The lens configuration is 3 groups, 6 elements. The distance scale is in meters. Uncoated. The infinity lock button is a pin type. The helicoid number is 5. The helicoid is a full-turn type, but to ensure smooth operation even when using an adapter, the lock button is screwed in behind (this can be restored to its original condition).

The soft rendering near wide open is quite atmospheric. The Hektor 5cm is known for having some units with unreliable focus, image quality, or rangefinder coupling, making it a somewhat risky lens. However, this particular example has perfect coupling, and real-world testing has shown excellent results, making it a pleasure to shoot with.

The nickel plating shows only the faintest signs of wear, giving it an exceptionally beautiful appearance, making this a rare find in terms of both condition and aesthetic for a nickel-plated Hektor.

The aperture and helicoid still operate smoothly with a pleasant tactile feel. The rangefinder coupling is perfect.

The lens shows a few very light cleaning marks on the front element and a slight discoloration visible only when held against LED light, but considering how often Hektor lenses show heavy wear, it would be hard to find one in better condition than this.

This is a lens that is enjoyable both to admire and to shoot with. The test shots are available in the Sample Gallery, and all were taken wide open. We would be pleased if you take a look.

The original Bakelite front cap and black-painted rear cap are both included.
