※About rarity

Summicron 50mm f2 1st generation, later model of the fixed-barrel type. Leica M mount. Leica code SOSIC, later 11818. Manufactured in 1966, serial number in the 2.15 million range. Meter/feet dual scale. This lens features Leica’s unique 6-element, 7-group construction.

The satin-chrome-plated helicoid ring with knurled finish is among the most refined of all Summicron models. Its timeless, beautiful design not only evokes the classic feel of old lenses but also complements modern digital Leica Ms and mirrorless cameras perfectly.

While the IROOA hood is the appropriate choice for this era, the earlier ITDOO model also matches well.

The outstanding imaging performance is well-known, providing high contrast and stable performance even at full aperture, and continues to be popular today.

Clean examples are becoming increasingly rare. This lens is in excellent condition both in appearance and glass quality.

There are minor scratches on the aperture ring and the outer part of the filter rim, but there are no noticeable dents or significant damage, and the chrome plating still shines beautifully.

It underwent a full overhaul in 2022. Thanks to the meticulous servicing, the smoothness of the aperture and helicoid remains excellent, and the rangefinder coupling works perfectly.

The lens has a couple of very faint cleaning marks, about 3mm long, on the front element, and there is very minor coating wear. However, there are no cleaning marks or fogging elsewhere, and the glass is clear and crisp. The coating is well-preserved on all surfaces.

The lens comes with clean front and rear original caps.
