The Leica SBLOO external 35mm viewfinder, a classic accessory. This early version, featuring the hexagonal Leitz logo, was released in 1951 with the later code 12010. Renowned for its clarity, this viewfinder offers a bright, vivid field of view, almost as if it reveals details beyond what’s visible through the built-in viewfinder.
Perfect for Barnack Leicas or the M3, which lack a 35mm frame, and it also enhances the experience on Leica bodies with a built-in 35mm frame. Once you’ve used this viewfinder, the frame lines in a camera’s built-in viewfinder may feel insufficient. An essential item, it’s ideal for street snaps and other scenes, especially when shooting with a stopped-down aperture.
The viewfinder shows light wear from use, with more noticeable rubbing on the base from mounting and removal. There are minor marks on the lower right corner when viewed from the front and the upper right edge of the eyepiece, but there are no chips or damage to the glass. A small amount of dust is visible inside the viewfinder, but it does not affect the clarity of the view, which remains clear and crisp with no haze. It’s in excellent, worry-free condition, ready for everyday use!
