※About rarity

Summicron 35mm f2, 8 Elements. Made in Germany. Manufactured in 1965. Leitz product code is SAWOM, later changed to 11308. Minimum focusing distance is 0.7m.

This lens offers soft rendering at wide open aperture, while stopping down enhances three-dimensionality, leading to sharp images at smaller apertures. Even when stopped down, it maintains a smooth character without becoming overly rigid, a hallmark of Leica lenses.

Not only is the optical performance outstanding, but the design also exudes a functional beauty typical of German industrial products. Its timeless design pairs seamlessly with both the contemporary digital M models and the M2 from the same era.

When equipped with the original ITDOO or IROOA hoods, it radiates elegance and refinement, making it a pleasure to admire even when not in use.

The exterior, including the mount surface, shows no signs of wear and is in excellent condition. A full overhaul was completed in September 2024, resulting in a very smooth feel for both the aperture ring and the focusing helicoid. The rangefinder coupling is perfectly calibrated, and focus is accurate.

The lens has two small cleaning marks on the rear element, and there is some coating wear around the perimeter of the front element; however, these imperfections should not affect image quality. The center of the lens is clear and free of obstructions, and the coating is intact across the entire surface.

The results from practical tests are very good. We have posted sample images in our gallery, and we hope you will take a look. The lens comes with original front and rear caps.
