This lens is an early version of the second generation with a white chrome barrel. The second generation later transitioned to a black chrome finish. The appearance of this lens closely follows that of the first generation’s white chrome barrel.
It features a 5-group, 7-element construction. Although the appearance is almost identical to the first-generation Summilux, the lens design was revised, adding a pleasing sharpness near the widest aperture. While the first-generation Summilux is known for its distinctive softness, this second-generation lens offers a superb balance with a noticeable core at full aperture. It is highly regarded and has a large fan base.
The filter size is E43. Compatible hoods include the XOOIM, 12521G, and 12586.
There is a minor dent at the tip of the barrel (which does not affect filter attachment), and some slight scuffs on the helicoid and base. Overall, the lens shows minimal signs of use and is in quite clean condition.
It underwent a full overhaul in August 2024. The aperture and helicoid have been finely tuned, providing a smooth and pleasant operational feel. The rangefinder coupling is perfectly aligned.
The glass has no noticeable cleaning marks and is free of haze, offering clear and crisp images. The condition of the glass is among the best for a Summilux. This lens is also highly suitable for practical use.
