※About rarity
Biogon 35mm f2.8. Manufactured by Zeiss Opton after World War II. This lens belongs to the era of the Contax IIa / IIIa cameras. It features a beautiful chrome-plated brass barrel. Distance markings are in feet. It has a faint purple T coating. Evolved from the 4-group 6-element design of the pre-war Biogon, this version has 7 elements and reduced rear protrusion. True to the Biogon name, it delivers stunningly sharp images even wide open. Please note that it cannot be mounted on M-series Leica bodies via an adapter due to interference between the body interior and the lens barrel (both digital and film are not compatible). A genuine front cap is included. There are very slight signs of use such as minor abrasions, but the plating is in good condition, resulting in a rather clean exterior appearance. Fully serviced in April 2024, the aperture, helicoid, and other components operate smoothly. The glass shows very shallow wiping marks on the middle element and some coating degradation, but this should not affect image quality. Overall, it's a lens with a sense of cleanliness. In real-world testing, performance is good. While there is some blurring in the periphery when shooting wide open, the central rendering is very sharp.
