※About rarity

Rollei Cord Model I, Art Deco. 6x6 format (120 film). Released in 1933. The Rollei Cord was positioned as a more affordable version of the Rolleiflex, but the first model of the Cord is exceptionally luxurious.

The nickel-plated body adorned with an Art Deco diamond pattern surely captivated people of the time. Although the production numbers were quite high, the number of units in good condition today is very low due to corrosion.

The taking lens is a Triotar 75mm f4.5 triplet. Film winding, focusing, and shutter charging are all done with the right hand, making it surprisingly easy to use. The viewfinder from this era is quite dark, so outdoor photography might be a bit challenging, but that is part of the joy of using vintage equipment.

The filter size is 28.5mm slip-on. Weighing 860g, it is lightweight for a twin-lens reflex camera. A true vintage camera!

More than 80 years since its manufacture, this camera shows some minor scratches and paint wear, but no noticeable dings or dents. It has no touch-ups and is quite clean for a Rollei Art Deco.

In June 2024, it underwent a comprehensive inspection and adjustment, including shutter disassembly and adjustment, viewfinder and lens cleaning, focus adjustment, film advance inspection, and red window repair.

The lens has some glass deterioration on the front element, but this should have little to no impact on actual shooting.

To load the film, set the number 1 through the red window and then reset the counter. Usually, the gold-plated Cord cameras you see are in poor condition and not suitable for handling, but this unit is in quite good condition and has been thoroughly serviced. It has a strong presence. Displaying it on a collection shelf will instantly bring the atmosphere of the good old days.
