※About rarity

Leica M4 Original Black Paint. The Leitz product code is 10402, and the serial number is in the 1,240,000 range. This particular unit was shipped in August 1969. In the same year, humanity celebrated the Apollo moon landing, the legendary Woodstock Festival took place. It was also an era of heightened anti-Vietnam War protests, where photojournalists played a vital role in documenting history.

This Leica M4 retains its original vulcanite covering and parts, with a semi-gloss paint finish that shows a tasteful patina from use. While black-painted lenses suit the M3 or M2, chrome lenses pair beautifully with the M4 Black Paint. Practical features like the crank rewind and brightline frames for 35mm, 50mm, 90mm, and 135mm made it a favorite among legendary photographers.

A small mark is visible near the corner of the viewfinder eyepiece on the top cover, but no significant dents or scratches are present elsewhere. Paint loss is minimal, and overall, this camera is remarkably clean. Even the strap lugs remain pristine, a testament to its careful use over the years.

To ensure it is in top-notch condition, the camera underwent a complete overhaul in January 2025. The winding mechanism and all operations now feel smooth, and the viewfinder is exceptionally clear.

Like pottery, denim, or leather goods, a black-painted Leica offers the joy of developing its character through use. This is a camera you can make uniquely yours as you let it age with time.

Additionally, cameras purchased from our shop are eligible for paid maintenance services even after the warranty period expires.
