Published in 2015 by Leica Historica, the German Leica research society of which our shop is also a member. Written by Georg Mann. 527 pages. Brand new. Entirely in German. Limited edition.
Although we deal extensively in German products, we must admit, somewhat embarrassingly, that we cannot read German, so we are unable to comment on the finer details. Nevertheless, the book appears to offer an exceptionally detailed account of the evolution and development of the Leicaflex series, from the earliest prototypes to mock-ups of the Leicaflex SLIII, illustrated with an abundance of photographs, technical drawings, and original documents from the period.
Weighing 3.1kg, this is a substantial volume, both in weight and content. Towards the end of the book, there are a series of photographs showing the development staff enjoying drinks and conversation together. These images convey a real sense of the affection and pride the engineers had for the Leicaflex.
An essential volume for enthusiasts of the Leicaflex and Leica R series.
