A shutter release button made by Schmidt & Co., the former authorized Leitz distributor in Japan. It was presented as a promotional gift to purchasers of Leitz products during the 1970s and is engraved with the initials SL, representing Schmidt and Leitz.
Well-preserved Leica cameras from longtime collectors, complete with their original boxes, often come with this release button alongside a Schmidt & Co. warranty card.
This SL release button is made of brass with a black paint finish, which can sometimes develop small bubbles over time. Naturally, it looks particularly good on black paint Leica M bodies.
With its perfectly balanced size and curvature, this release button is also exceptionally comfortable to use.
The black paint has developed a moderate amount of bubbling with age. The white SL lettering has also yellowed slightly over time, giving it a lovely vintage appearance.
Its aged finish should look particularly good on a well-preserved black paint Leica body.
The price includes domestic shipping within Japan. It will be shipped via Yu-Packet.
