Leitz ITDOO lens hood. A classic hood for the Summicron 50mm and Summaron 35mm lenses. Single-hook type.
Compared with its successor, the IROOA, the ITDOO has a cleaner and more streamlined design. Its simple, stylish form is a fine example of Leitz accessory design.
Like many other Leitz accessories, the ITDOO was produced in several variations. This example is the standard type with the compatible lens names engraved on the hood.
A small number of early ITDOO hoods were also made of Bakelite, but they soon disappeared, perhaps because the material was prone to cracking.
There are some signs of use on the matte black finish inside the hood, but the exterior shows very little wear and remains in very clean condition.
It is in remarkably fine condition, still retaining an almost new appearance. We have confirmed that it fits E39 lenses properly.
The original box is included and shows considerable signs of use. It appears to date from the late 1950s, around the transitional period to the IROOA. Also a nice piece for a collection.
