A high-performance zoom lens renowned for its excellent image quality, delivering performance comparable to Leica prime lenses. It was the first lens for the Leica R system to feature apochromatic correction. Optical construction is 13 elements in 10 groups. With an actual measured weight of 1,846g, it is certainly a heavyweight lens, and we recommend using a monopod or tripod when shooting.
To make the most of its outstanding optical performance, it would also be an excellent choice for use on a high-resolution digital mirrorless camera.
There are a few extremely minor signs of wear, but overall the lens shows little use and remains in very clean cosmetic condition. There are no dents or impact marks.
The aperture, helicoid, and zoom mechanisms all operate properly and smoothly.
There is a small amount of dust inside the lens, but it should have virtually no effect on actual photography.
The results of our test shooting were excellent. Whether shooting in color or black and white, this lens delivers dramatic images with a striking presence. A superb lens highly recommended by our test-shooting curator.
Original front and rear caps and a carrying case are included.
