※About rarity

Elmar-M 24mm f3.8 ASPH. in black finish. A wide-angle lens for Leica M cameras. Leica product code 11648. Serial number in the 4.08 million range, made in 2008, the first year of production.

8 elements in 6 groups, including one aspherical element. Minimum focusing distance is 0.7m. E46 filter thread.

The f3.8 maximum aperture may seem rather modest, but this is an excellent lens with crisp performance from wide open and very low distortion. Combined with its compact screw-in hood, it offers the light and agile handling characteristic of a small-aperture wide-angle lens. The lens alone weighs approximately 240g on our scale.

There are minor signs of use, but no noticeable scratches.

All functions operate properly, and rangefinder coupling is accurate. With our Leica M10-P and M240 demo cameras, the rangefinder image slightly overshoots at infinity, while it aligns perfectly on the M11. The lens itself focuses correctly, so this presents no practical issue in actual use. The helicoid movement is on the light side. If you would like to have this lens serviced, paid servicing by Leica Japan will be required.

There is slight deterioration to the coating on the front element, but it is only visible under a powerful LED light. It should have virtually no effect on actual photography.

The original box, instruction manual, leather case, 12464 hood, 14212 hood cap, and rear cap are included.
